Meet the Team - Colleen

Wednesday, 26 October 2011 10:41:16 BST

We thought it would be a nice idea if you could get to know some of the team a little bit better. So first up is Ms Colleen Keogh who places a pivotal role here at Fergusons. She’s the first point of contact for most of our customers and is the person to speak to if you ever have a problem, we couldn’t do without her.

How long have you worked at Fergusons? I’ve worked here for just over 2 years.

What’s your favourite from all of our products? My favourite product, is the gift bag vanilla fudge and the tablet. Can’t decide between the two.

Who would you most like to share a box of Fergusons with? I would share a box of Fergusons Chocolates with someone who’s never tried them before. They really are the best chocolates I’ve ever tasted, so I would like to share that with someone that’s never experienced how good they are.

What’s the best thing about working at Ferguson? Best thing about working here is the people I work with. Can’t imagine being part of a more friendlier work atmosphere than this. I love coming to work everyday.

Milk or Dark chocolate? Milk Chocolate

Celebrating Chocolate Week

Thursday, 13 October 2011 16:15:43 BST

Did you know it’s Chocolate Week this week? If you are anything like us then every week is chocolate week frankly, but we were interested when we heard that apparently it is official this week. It seems to involve a collection of large and small chocolate makers and sellers mainly in the London area but there are a number around other parts of the UK as well. Anything that promotes well made, genuine chocolate gets the thumbs up from us. There seems to be a specialist ‘week’ for something or other every week so we suppose chocolate has as much right as anything else to claiming a week of its own. So if you are planning on sitting back on Saturday night with a box of Assorted Creams or two then you can do it conscience free as you are only celebrating chocolate week as it is meant to be celebrated! Enjoy.

Hawick Balls, the coolest sweets in the world!

Wednesday, 15 June 2011 09:38:55 BST

It’s a bold claim we know however it’s true as our photographs surely show, after all it doesn’t get much cooler than the south pole. We were sent these photographs of a large jar of Hawick Balls, they’d made the incredible journey all the way to Antarctica in the company of one Dr Mike Ramage, who is something of a legend in Antarctic explorer circles. We were particularly impressed by the restraint shown by the crew as half the Hawick Balls are still in the jar, an opened jar of Hawick Balls doesn’t last that long round here I can tell you. I guess to be able to explore the wildest parts of the world you need a degree of self control. We loved these pictures and have put them on our wall and on our Facebook page for everyone to see. We wish everyone on the trip all the best and a safe journey. Thanks for the pictures. We'd also recommend this blog written by one of the team on the trip - andrewfdixon.blogspot.com/.

Thank You for your Thank You

Thursday, 9 June 2011 09:21:28 BST

It might seem strange to you but one of the best things that can happen in this business is to receive a thank-you letter from a happy customer. These days people tend not to write in as much, most people phone or email or even get in touch with us by Facebook or Twitter. So when we do receive a letter , particularly a handwritten one it is an event in the office now. We received a lovely one very recently. It wasn’t just that it was handwritten, or that the writer had clearly enjoyed their chocolates it was who it was from and where it had come from. ‘Lainey’, as they sign himself, is a serving soldier in 4 Scots of The Royal Regiment of Scotland and is currently serving in Afghanistan. They’d received some Banana Creams from us and wrote to thank us and give us a little insight into his life. In truth we’ve little grasp of what their day is like, we think we’ve had a bad day when a supplier is late with a delivery, I imagine Lainey and colleagues could teach us a thing or two about what a bad day really is. So Lainey thanks for your letter, it means a lot to us that you took the time to tell us you enjoyed them, we hope you enjoy the next batch just as much. We’ve put a copy of Lainey’s letter on our Facebook page if you’d like to read it.

The popularity of Hawick Balls

Friday, 20 May 2011 12:09:11 BST

We’ve been involved in the production of Hawick Balls for a while now but only added them to our website very recently; and what a response we’ve had! The feedback we’ve been getting has been wonderful, and last month they were the second most popular item purchased from the Fergusons Chocolate website (Ferguson’s Assorted Creams remains the most popular). I suppose we shouldn’t be that surprised, they taste great after all, and like so many of the older classics they are harder to get these days. They still come in that wonderful tin as well, which we bet nobody throws away when they’ve finished all the Hawick Balls inside. It’s really pleasing for us when we see great traditional sweets, like Hawick Balls, get a new lease of life in the digital age, part of what this website is all about is trying to keep alive some great independent products.
